Legendary Indian body builder, Manohar Aich passed away at 104 on Sunday. Aich is India’s first Mr Universe after Independence in 1952 and also a three time Asian Games gold medalist. Aich counted his last breath at his north Kolkata residence following age related health issues.
With 4 feet 11 inch, Manohar is famously nicknamed ‘Pocket Hercules.’ Born in Comilla district, Aich started his career as a stuntman by performing with an amazing magician PC Sorkar.

Mr Universe always amused the audience with his daredevil stunts like blending steel with his teeth or lying on a sword. Aich took up bodybuilding in 1942 while he was performing stunts with Royal Indian Air Force.
Age was never a deterrent for the veteran body builder who kept a stringent routine and even performed in his eighties. Death is inevitable but Manohar Aich will be remembered by all, across every sporting discipline.
