In Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara region, an encounter broke out between the security officials and the militants. In the encounter, on the 16th of June, five terrorists were killed by the Union Territory Security Officials.
Mr. Vijay Kumar, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu and Kashmir, took to Twitter and said, “Five (05) foreign #terrorists killed in #encounter. Search in the area is going on.”

The encounter broke out after the Jammu and Kashmir police and security officials launched a joint search operation, after receiving an intelligence tip regarding the presence of militants in the region.
Notably, since February, the Jammu and Kashmir police officials launched operations and 10 major infiltration attempts have been foiled across the Line of Control. These attempts indicate how Pakistan is desperately trying to push terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir region in India.
Furthermore, amid the situation, the Jammu and Kashmir police and security officials have been alerted and are on their toes ensuring safety of the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, and foiling attacks.
