Jat quota: Protestors set fire on Haryana Minister’s house, 3 died

Chandigarh: Jat protesters demanding reservation in government jobs and education under OBC category set fire to a minister’s home and a mall, damaged property and burnt police vehicles. Three died in this allegation. They even looted guns from an armoury. Mobs blocked highways and rail tracks. Big traffic jams were reported in Gurgaon.

The Jat agitation turned violent on yesterday  after one person died when the BSF opened fire in self-defence in Rohtak. According to the police reports, at least 21 people were injured in the violence. Authorities at teh Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science and Hospital, said 19 of them have been injured out of 25 as they suffered bullet injuries.

The Northern Railways on Friday decided to cancel over 100 trains passing Haryana and other regions. Apart from that, many trains were also either partially cancelled or their routes diverted. Major trains cancelled from February 19 to 21 are New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi, New Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi, New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi and New Delhi-Una Jan Shatabdi.
