In Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, heavy police security has been deployed to control the situation amid the community violence, which broke out during Eid prayers, on the night of the 2nd of May.
In addition, 97 people have been arrested in connection with the community clash in the City so far. The Hawa Singh Ghumaria, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order,) said, “Curfew is being strictly enforced in the district. Higher-level officers have been deployed here. Every small incident occurring in the district is being monitored. A total of 97 people have been arrested in connection with incidents that have occurred in Jodhpur.”
It is to be noted, in the Jalori gate circle of the Jodhpur district, a clash broke out following Eid prayers, which soon intensified with stone pelting and violence, following which the police resorted to a lathi charge. The reason behind the clash was the raising of different flags at Balmukand Bissa at the Jalori Gate intersection circle
Meanwhile, Mr. Satish Poonia, the Rajasthan State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) requested Governor Mr. Kalraj Mishra to initiate an investigation into the incidents related to violence in Jodhpur and also pass necessary instructions.
Mr. Satish Poonia said, “I humbly request you (Governor) that a fair investigation should be conducted into the incidents and taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, please pass on the necessary instruction to the state government so that peace can be established in the state and the communal incident doesn’t get repeated.”
On the other hand, the Jodhpur Police is on high alert, amid the tense situation.
