H.D. Kumaraswamy, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, on the 13th of July, during the Assembly session of Karnataka, said, he is disturbed with the Karnataka Government crisis and wants to prove his strength.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said, “It would not be appropriate for me to continue without proving my majority. I am not someone who would like to hang on to my seat if there is lack of confidence in my government (sic.)”

H.D. Kumaraswamy urged K.R. Ramesh Kumar, the Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly, to schedule a date to prove his strength with the help of trust votes.

Mr. Kumaraswamy asked Ramesh Kumar to schedule a confidence motion on the 16th of July, after the Supreme Court’s hearing.

The Supreme Court, on the 12th of July, ordered Ramesh Kumar not to take any action against the MLAs till the next hearing, which is on the 16th of July.

The 10 rebel MLAs of the Indian National Congress (INC) filed a petition against Ramesh Kumar and asked the SC to order him to accept their resignations.

On the other hand, D.K. Shivakumar is trying to reach out to the MLAs and hold talks with them to handle the situation in the State.

If the MLAs’ resignations are accepted, the Karnataka Government will face a major drawback, whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will have a majority in the State, with an increased number of MLAs.

Stay tuned for further updates.
