Kolkata: Death toll in the flyover collapse incident in Kolkata raise to 24 on Friday as the army and the emergency services worked all night to rescue dozens of people who were still trapped under the bridge. 80 people have been injured and the condition of several injured is critical, death toll is likely to go up.

Doctors also worked throughout Thursday night to rescue and the state government ordered a high-level probe into the incident.

Anil Shekhawat, a spokesman for the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), said seventeen survivors out of 92 rescued were still undergoing treatment at hospital. Most suffered multiple fractures and were in a critical condition, Shekhawat added, saying that the death toll was expected to rise, with an unknown number of people still trapped under the wreckage.
