After a rise in petrol and diesel prices, Indian cities and states witnessed a rise in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) commercial cylinder prices too.
On the 1st of November, the Central Government announced a hike of Rs. 266 in LPG cylinders. The announcement came at a time when the citizens of India are struggling with the skyrocketing fuel prices, which breached the Rs. 100 mark and Diwali festival.
Two days ahead of the Diwali celebration, the sudden rise of Rs. 265 in LPG commercial cylinders would be a major setback and disturbance in the festive mood of people. However, there is a relief for the households as there is no rise in domestic cylinders (14 kg) prices. The last hike of prices in domestic cylinders was announced on the 6th of October by Rs. 15.
Meanwhile, with the hike of Rs. 266 in commercial cylinder prices, the new rates are:
Delhi – Rs. 2,000.05
Kolkata – Rs. 2,073.50
Mumbai – Rs. 1,950
Chennai – Rs. 2,133
The LPG cylinder prices are revised every month based on the international benchmark rate of LPG and the exchange rate of the United States of America (U.S.A.,) dollar and Indian rupee.
The rise in prices is applicable for both subsidised and non subsidised users and would come into effect immediately.
