Maharashtra: 11 Died, 38 Injured In Tragic Bus Accident In Nashik

In a tragic accident, approximately 11 people were killed and 38 were seriously injured after a private passenger bus rammed into a truck and caught fire.

The unfortunate incident took place on the morning of the 8th of October, Saturday morning.  Notably, at around 5:00 A.M., the passenger bus, coming from Yavatmal rammed into a truck, following which the bus caught fire.  The police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.  While 10 people died on spot, 30 were badly burnt and were rushed to a nearby hospital.  The Nashik Police confirmed the incident to occur on Aurangabad Road near Nashik, Maharashtra. 

Furthermore, the Nashik Police said, a rescue operation is underway and they are still trying to get the exact number of deceased and injured.  The police said, “We are still trying to ascertain the exact number of deaths with the doctor’s confirmation.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, expressed anguish over the tragic accident and gave his condolences to those who lost their family members.  Furthermore, Mr. Eknath Shinde also announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakhs for the families of the victims and ordered prompt free treatment for all those injured. 

In addition to Eknath Shinde, PM Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences and tweeted about the unfortunate tragic bus accident.  He also announced an ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh to the families, who lost their kin and  Rs. 50,000 for the injured people.

Moreover, the Eknath Shinde Government also ordered a probe in the incident and asked the Mumbai Police to register a case and launch an investigation.
