On the 11th of April, the West Bengal and the Maharashtra Government announced to extend the ongoing lockdown till the 30th of April.
Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, took the decision after 6 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus were reported in the State.
Ms. Banerjee addressed the media and reported 95 active cases in the State and 6 new cases increasing the COVID-19 patients number to 101. While the lockdown would continue till the 30th of April, schools, colleges and educational institute would remain shut till the 10th of June in WB.
Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra took the decision in the wake of increasing number of COVID-19 infection cases. Maharashtra is the only Indian State with more than 1,500 COVID-19 cases.
With these updates, Odisha, Punjab, West Bengal and Maharashtra officially announced the extension of the ongoing lockdown by 2 weeks.
Maharashtra recorded a total of 1,666 cases with 110 deaths till date.
On the other hand, the toll of infected COVID-19 patients is 7,876 with a total of 253 deaths.
