Aaditya Thackeray, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate of the Shiv Sena from Worli, won the Assembly seat.
Aaditya Thackeray, 29 years old, is the first of the Thackeray family to contest the Maharashtra Assembly elections and win.
Aaditya Thackeray, the son of Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray, contested the Maharashtra Assembly elections for the first time and became the MLA of Worli.
Aaditya had a landslide victory after he won with a margin of 67,672 votes against the MLA candidate of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP.)
Reports state after Aaditya Thackeray won the Worli constituency, the alliance of the BJP and the Shiv Sena may consider Aaditya as a contender for the Deputy Chief Minister’s (CM) post. While Aaditya is expected to become the Deputy CM, Devendra Fadnavis could become the Chief Minister for a second term.
Devendra Fadnavis is currently serving as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Maharashtra conducted its Assembly elections for a total of 288 seats. The major parties which contested were the alliance of the BJP and the Shiv Sena and the alliance of the Indian National Congress (INC) and the NCP.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections’ results for the other Assembly seats are yet to be announced.
