The Electoral Officers (EOs) started the counting of votes for the Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections.
Maharashtra and Haryana conducted their Assembly elections on the 21st of October. The major parties which contested the elections were the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In Maharashtra, the BJP, in alliance with the Shiv Sena, contested a total of 274 seats out of the 288. On the other hand, the alliance of the INC and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) contested 250 seats together.
In Haryana, the BJP and the INC contested a total of 90 Assembly seats. Along with Haryana and Maharashtra, approximately 51 Assembly constituencies across India also conducted their by polls.
The counting of votes began early in the morning, on the 24th of October. As of now, the Shiv Sena is leading in 56 Assembly constituencies, whereas its alliance, the BJP, is leading with 106 seats.
In Haryana, the BJP is leading in 37 Assembly constituencies, whereas the INC is leading with 30 seats. To mark the majority, the parties need to win 146 seats in Maharashtra and 46 seats in Haryana.
The final results of the Assembly elections would be announced later, on the evening of the 24th of October.
