After the second wave and the rising number of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus cases, Maharashtra is witnessing a decline in cases.

In the last 24 hours, Maharashtra reported 5,508 new COVID-19 cases with 151 deaths.

It is to be noted, in the past 24 hours, of the total 5,508 new cases, the Mumbai division reported 802 fresh cases and 25 fatalities, the Nashik division reported 867 cases including 745 in Ahmednagar. The Pune division saw 2,194 infections including 614 in Satara, 597 in Solapur, 542 in Pune district.

The Kolhapur division added 1,267 cases including 473 in the Sangli district and 385 in the Kolhapur district. The Aurangabad division reported 37 cases, Latur division 299, Akola division 22, and Nagpur division.

On the 8th of August, the Maharashtra Government released a media bulletin, reporting 5,508 new cases, 4,895 recoveries and 151 deaths. In addition, the Maharashtra Medical Department conducted as many as 4,95,68,519 tests for the Novel Coronavirus including 1,96,307 tests in the past 24 hours.

With this, Maharashtra, which once had more than 1.50 lakh active cases, now has 71,510 active cases. Of the active cases in Maharashtra, Pune has the highest number of cases (14,458,) followed by Sangli (7,370,) Satara (7,309,) Ahmednagar (6,601) and Thane with 6,130 cases. Mumbai city, which at one time had the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, now has below 5,000 cases. The COVID-19 active cases in the City fell to 4,645 cases with 15,951 deaths till date.

Overall, the State has 63,53,327 positive cases, including 71,510 active cases, 61,44,388 recovered/discharged cases and 1,33,996 deceased cases.

In addition, the recovery rate from the Novel Coronavirus is currently 96.71% and the mortality rate is 2.1%.

On the other hand, under the leadership of the Shiv Sena Government, a total of 4.7 crore vaccine doses were given to the people of Maharashtra till the 9th of August.
