Mumbai: The Bombay High Court allowed conscious possession of slaughtered beef and also decriminalized it. According to the court order, people can possess and consume beef if the animal is slaughtered outside Maharshtra.
A division Bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice S. C. Gupte upheld the constitutional validity of The Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment) Act, 1976.

According to the reports, The Bombay high court has passed an order that beef ban will continue in Maharashtra.
Even possession of cow, bull, bullock meat, even if it is slaughtered outside the state was considered an offence. This particular provision was challenged in the petitions.
Lawyer Rakesh Kumar Singh said, “Beef business can be done , but it should not be of animals from Maharashtra.”
