A former Navy officer created mayhem at his east Delhi apartment on Sunday noon. The 38 year old man first attacked the buildings security guard and the stabbed his 60 year old father 36 times in his flat. As the father tried to escape the son chased him down to the guardroom and killed him.
The whole incident was captured by the CCTV cameras placed in the building. The accused Rahul Matta, then went ahead and stabbed his next door neighbor woman in her flat and tried to hold another neighbor as a hostage in their flat.
The police who were alerted by then approached the flat, when cornered he turned on the gas stove and blew up the flat. At least nine policemen were injured in the incident. Rahul was then rescued from the burning flat after hours and was rushed to the hospital. The police will take him into custody for interrogation after discharge.
Rahul has been fired from the Navy and jailed twice for his violent behavior. Later he was disowned by his father and had to vacate his father’s house as a result. This is supposedly the reason behind his rampage.
