Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 26th of September, wished Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India, on the latter’s 87th birthday.

Mr. Modi took to Twitter and wished Manmohan Singh.  Mr. Modi said, “Best wishes to our former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji on his birthday. I pray for his long and healthy life.”

Manmohan Singh was born on the 26th of September, 1932 in a Punjab village, named Gah, before the partition of India.  After the partition, Singh, along with his family, shifted to India in 1974.

Dr. Singh entered politics in the early ’70s.  He joined the Indian Government and politics as the Economic Advisor in the Commerce Ministry.

He also held the position of Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014.  Later, in 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the elections and formed the Government of India and Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister.

Manmohan Singh is also the first Sikh who was inducted into the Government of India as the Prime Minister of India.

Politicians, supporters and INC leaders took to Twitter and posted birthday wishes for Dr. Singh.

Ashok Gehlot, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Amrinder Singh Gill, the Chief Minister of Punjab, also took to Twitter and wished Dr. Manmohan Singh.
