Netizens Come Together For Search Of Chennai Girl: Over time social media has become a platform for not only sharing self updates but also for social campaigning. In one such incident, over the last three days there have been hundreds of posts which have quote the news of a missing model from Chennai.

Gaanam Nair was last seen on May 26th morning when leaving her home in Virugambakkam. The KK Nagar Police have now registered a ‘missing person’ case. Nair lives in Chennai along with her aunt and cousins and describes herself as a photographer and fashion blogger on her Facebook Page. However, her relatives claimed that Nair was a marketing manager at a salon.

The girl is survived by her father, who lives in New Delhi. On Friday morning, Nair left home for work on her black activa but did not reach the workplace in Nungambakkam. The police shared to a news website, “She was supposed to go to office but we have learnt that she didn’t take the usual route. We are in the process of examining CCTV footage for further clues.” The police are also investigating family and friends ties in regard to the missing case.

The relatives, however, contradicted the police and said “There were no problems at home,” says Priyanka, Gaanam’s 19 year old cousin. “She has been with us from when she 10 years old. She works in a salon in Nungambakkam as the marketing manager now. She always left the house at 11 A.M. If it was an accident, we would have known by now. We have called multiple hospitals and even visited some of them. We have no clue where she is.”

The family and friends have taken to social media in an attempt to reach out to the girl or at least her whereabouts.
