The National Investigative Agency (NIA) is all set to investigate the recent Ram Navami clashes in Howrah region of West Bengal.
On the 27th of April, Thursday, the Calcutta High Court (HC) ruled out the orders and gave a green signal to the NIA, for a detailed investigation into the violent clash, broke out during the Ram Navami celebrations. According to sources, the The division bench of Calcutta High Court’s acting Chief Justice T.S. Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharya directed the state police to handover all case- related documents to the NIA within the next two weeks.
The judgment came after the local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mr. Suvendu Adhikari had approached the same division bench of the Calcutta High Court with the plea for a central agency probe. Reviewing his plea, the Calcutta HC asked the State Police to hand over the case and submit all the report and evidence of the violence to the NIA.
