The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA,) on the 28th of August, announced the last date for online nominations of Padma Awards 2020 to be till the 15th of September.
For Padma Awards, people irrespective of race, occupation, position, or sex are eligible. Only government servants including those working with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs,) except doctors and scientists are not eligible for Padma Awards.
Founded in 1954, Padma Awards have three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
The Padma award was founded to recognize tye work of distinction for extraordinary achievements and services in several fields like education, arts, literature, music, sports, medicine, social work and others.
The Padma Award is the highest civilian award in India. Awardees would be given a medal and a certificate signed by the President of India.
One can nominate themselves or make recommendations through the online portal,https://padmaawards.gov.in, and register for the award.
The nominations/recommendations should contain relevant details in the format available in the website.
The Ministry of Home Affairs requested all Central ministries, departments, governments of states and union territories, Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan awardees, Institutes of Excellence to identify talented people and fill in their nominations.
The nominations/recommendations for Padma Awards will be received online only on the Padma Awards portal.

The online nominations/recommendations for the Padma Awards started from 1st May 2020 and would be continued till the 15th of September.
Till date as many as 8,035 people registered, of which 6361 nominations/ recommendations have been completed.
Padma Award 2020 winner under all the three categories would be honoured with the award on the 26th of January, 2021.
