Pathankot and Gurdaspur have been placed on high alert after two unidentified bags were found near the Mamun Army Cantonment area. The bags discovered on Thursday morning were carrying two mobile tower batteries. The alert was also initiated after three suspicious men went missing after they abandoned a robbed SUV.

The police of both the districts launched a search and extract operation. The police have not yet arrested any suspects and said that these three might be from Kashmir. Vivek Sheel Soni, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP,) Pathankot said, “We have broadly identified them and we are trying our best to arrest them.”

The three suspects entered the State on Wednesday after abandoning the vehicle at Makhanpur near Pathankot. They fled through check posts of Behrampur and Gurdaspur as the police signaled them to stop. They abandoned the vehicle after the 15 km chase in Makhanpur according to the police.

The SUV was robbed from Samba in J andK by the suspects. The search operations involved 300 personnel and lasted for eight hours according to the police. The police, however, have maintained that there was no connection between the abandoned bags incidents and the three terror suspect.
