On the 23rd of September, Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC. On his arrival, the Prime Minister of India, received a warm welcome from Indian Americans, who gathered to see Mr. Narendra Modi.
He was received by the Joe Biden Administration officials to the White House, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings. Ahead of the QUAD Leaders’ Summit 2021, PM Modi is scheduled to meet Ms. Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States of America (U.S.A.) He will also meet with chief executive officers (CEOs) of American companies in Washington. Getting into the details, on his first day of U.S.A., visit, Mr. Modi is scheduled to hold one-on-one meetings with top five American CEOs. Two of them are Indian Americans, Mr. Shantanu Narayen from Adobe and Mr. Vivek Lall from General Atomics. The three others are Mr. Cristiano E. Amon from Qualcomm, Mr. Mark Widmar from First Solar and Mr. Stephen A. Schwarzman from Blackstone.
The Prime Minister’s Office also tweeted about Mr. Narendra Modi’s arrival in Washington DC. The tweet read, “Prime Minister @narendramodi landed in Washington DC a short while ago. Over the next two days, he would be attending various bilateral and multilateral programmes in the city. He would also be interacting with business leaders.”
Besides this, the Prime Minister of India would also hold talks with Ms. Kamala Harris.
It is to be noted, on the 22nd of September, Mr. Narendra Modi left for the United States of America (U.S.A.,) on a special Air India flight. This visit the Prime Minister’s first visit to the United States of America after the Joe Biden administration formed the Government. During his one week visit to attend the Quad Leaders Summit 2021, Mr. Narendra Modi would meet political leaders of Australia, Japan and the United States. He would also hold bilateral meetings with Mr. Joe Biden, the President of the U.S.A., the Vice President of the U.S.A., Ms. Kamala Harris and other leaders at the White House.
With this visit to the United States, Mr. Narendra Modi would aim to strengthen relations of India with the U.S.A., Australia and Japan and continue exchanges on regional and global issues.
During the bilateral meeting, PM Modi and Mr. Joe Biden are likely to discuss the security, defence, trade and the Afghanistan situation since the Taliban takeover.
Mr. Modi is scheduled to meet Joe Biden on the 24th of September. He would also address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on the 25th of September.
The Prime Minister of India is scheduled to return to India on the 26th of September.
