With tensions running high in both India and Pakistan about an impending war, and discussions by celebrities and journalist only adding fuel to the fire, a Mumbai based ‘artivist’ and writer along with like-minded people have started a campaign for peace on Facebook called “Profile for Peace!”
Using social media as their medium, people on both sides of the border have joined this call for peace by changing their Facebook profile pictures to stop this hatred and maintain calm. With messages such as “Dear leaders, Do not let the actions of a few violent men write the future of many people like me who want peace”. All these profile pictures carry the hastags #KiilTerroristsNotTalks and #ProfilesforPeace.
Ram, the founder of this campaign, had started Profiles for Peace last year but has gained significant attention in the wake of recent events. Ram believes, it is the voice of peace that shall and must prevail.
There has been an overwhelming response to the campaign, with director Mahesh Bhatt, too, pleading for peace.
