On Tuesday, in the late hours, Rahul Gandhi tweeted ‘Dear BJP, don’t be afraid.’ This reaction came after the BJP leaders complained to the Election Commission about the usage of inappropriate language regarding the Congress Party symbol ‘the hand’ as it is against the Model Code of Conduct set by the EC.

Last week at ‘Jan Vedna Sammelan’ held by the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi used the reference of religion when he said that he sees the party’s hand symbol in the pictures and idols of gods and saints. Enraged by the violation of EC’s law, the BJP requested the EC for withdrawal of Congress’s party symbol and also appealed to the EC for disqualification of Congress from contesting in the upcoming assembly polls in five states.

Naqvi, BJP spokesperson said to the PTI, “The grand old party Congress’ grand new leader has tried to give communal color to the elections by his statement in which he co-related the Congress’ ‘hand’ with various religious figures. This is a clear cut case of corrupt practice. There should be action against both Congress and its leader.”

The party pointed out that this is a clear case of cultural reference which has been prohibited by the EC.
