Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India, on the 20th of July, visited Drass in Jammu and Kashmir and paid his respects to the soldiers of the Indian Army who died during the Kargil War in 1999.
The Kargil War, which took place on the 26th of July 1999, completed its 20 years in July.
On this occasion, the sacrifices of the Indian soldiers who fought against militants and Pakistani troops, were remembered.
Rajnath Singh, during his one day visit, will also go to Jammu and inaugurate two bridges constructed in Kathua and Basantar, Samba.
Mr. Nath took to Twitter and said, “Leaving New Delhi for Drass on a day long visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Shall visit the Kargil War Memorial to pay tributes to the fallen soldiers. I shall also be visiting Jammu region where two bridges built by BRO at Ujh in Kathua and Basantar in Samba will be dedicated to the nation (sic.)”

To celebrate India’s victory in the Kargil War, Rajnath Singh also lit a “Victory Flame,” which will travel to Kargil War Memorial in Drass, Kargil, all the way from the National War Memorial (NWM,) Delhi.
The Victory Flame will reach Drass on the 26th of July, after crossing approximately nine towns and cities.
The Army Chief will receive the Victory Flame in Drass.
