RJD Releases First Candidate List For Bihar Assembly Elections 2020

On the 5th of October, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on the 5th of October, released the first list of candidates contesting the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections. 

In addition, the RJD also allocated Party symbols to its candidates.

The event was attended by the senior leaders of the RJD including Manoj Jha.

In the first list of 2020 Assembly elections, the Party named 15 candidates.

Some of the names in the first list include Rahul Tiwari, the son of party veteran Shivanand Tiwari and Sudhakar Singh, the son of RJD state President Jagadanand Singh. They will contest from Shahpur and Ramgarh, respectively.

Jamui Vijay Prakash, the former minister of Bihar and Member of the Legislative Assembly, will once again contest as RJD candidate in the upcoming election.

The list of some other candidates include – Anita Devi from Nokha, W. Singh from Naveenagar, Surendra Yadav from Bela, Siddri Devi from Chakai, Sudha Yadav from Jehanabad.

In addition, the RJD named Ramvishun Singh Lohia from Jagdishpur, Subedar Das from Makhdumpur, Ramdev Yadav from Belhar and Rajendra Yadav from Jhajha.

Meanwhile Tejashwi Yadav is said to be the face for the chief ministerial candidate.

The Indian National Congress (INC,) the alliance of the INC and RJD, on the 3rd of October, announced Tejashwi Yadav to be CM candidate.

According to the seat sharing agreement between the alliance parties, the RJD would contest on 144 seats, while the INC from 70 seats.

The first phase of polling in Bihar is to be held on the 28th of October.

The second and the third phase of the election would be held on the 3rd and 7th of November respectively.

Bihar would contest for 243 Assembly seats, of which 71 would go to the polls in the first phase.

Nomination filing would continue till the 8th of October.
