After months of turmoil in the party, and a split that led to the coalition in the wake of Assembly Elections, the Samajwadi Party has split again. The father and son duo were having differences, which led to the difference in the party.

On Friday, the party finally split in two and Shivpal Yadav announced the launch of a new party. This party would be led by Mulayam Singh Yadav and will be called Samajwadi Secular Morcha. Mulayam Yadav founded the SP in 1992 and over the last one year, the father Mulayam Yadav and son former UP CM, Akhilesh Yadav have been at war. Mulayam and Shivpal have been on one side and Akhilesh Yadav on another side.

Shivpal, speaking to press said, “Neta ji ko unka sammaan vapas dilane, aur Samajawadion ko ek saath laane ke liye is morche ka jald hi ailaan hoga.” Mulayam is referred to Netaji by those close to him. Shivpal said, To bring his lost dignity back to Neta ji and to bring the real Samajwadis together, this party will be announced soon.

Ajant Singh Yadav and Shivpal held a meeting at their hometown in Etawah, after which this announcement was made. Mulayam has not yet given any statement of Shivpal’s declaration. Shivpal had threatened Akhilesh to hand over the party to Mulayam, failing which he warned of a new party. Akhilesh took over the party ahead of Assembly elections in which they suffered a humiliating defeat.

After Akhilesh failed to take action, Shivpal announced the formation of the new party.
