The Supreme Court (SC) gave a green signal to the National Test Agency (NTA) to release the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 examination.

On the 28th of October, Thursday, the Apex Court reviewed a petition filed by the NTA against the Bombay High Court (HC) orders. Recently, the Bombay HC issued a stay order on the NEET 2021 Results and asked the NTA to conduct fresh examinations for the medical entrance of 2021 academic session. The NTA moved the SC regarding the Bombay HC’s issued order and demanded dismissal of the order.

The Top Court dismissed the order of the Bombay High Court and asked the NTA to declare the results.

A Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Mr. L. Nageswara Rao said: “We cannot hold up the results of 16 lakh students.”

The bench said, “stay and notice. We will decide what happens to the two students upon reopening (after Diwali vacation.) In the meanwhile, we issue notice and file a counter.” The bench further said, “You are talking about your clients but not considering the lakhs of students who are waiting for the results.”

The NTA conducted the NEET, medical entrance exam on the 12th of September 2021. Although a group of students demanded for postponement in the wake of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the exam was held as per scheduled.

The examination was of 200 questions and needed to be done in the span of 2.5 hours. A total of 16 lakh students gave the offline NEET examination.

However, due to the Bombay High Court (HC) orders, the results were delayed. Now, with the approval of the Top Court, the results are expected to be released in a week.
