Lucknow: Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan constructed Taj Mahal for his begum Mumtaz Mahal, now its the retire post master from Uttar Pradesh who is in process of building a replica of the heritage in memory of his beloved wife.
Faizul Hasan Qadri a retired post master who hails from Kaser Kalan village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district got married to Tajamulli in 1953.
Qadri’s wife was diagnosed with throat cancer and passed away in the year 2011. After his wife’s death Qadri devoted all his finances in the construction of a ‘mini Taj Mahal’- structure as a symbol of his love. But time is slowly ticking away for the retired postmaster.
The idea of the monument, Qadri claims, came to him while he and his wife were once wondering if anyone would ever remember them after their death.
Initally Qadri , sold a piece of land and his wife’s jewelry to meet the construction demands.
But now he is facing difficulties to meet the finances. Qadri has already spent around Rs 11 lakh, needs Rs 6-7 lakh more to get the marble studded to the monument and also build a lush green area around it.
Uttar Padesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has appreciated Qadri’s efforts and offered monetary help but he refuse to take it.
“I have told my brother to bury me here by the side of my wife. I have deposited the fees with the Wakf board also. Everything that comes has to go away some day. My wife is dead. I will also die some day. The monument too might not stand forever. I just wish to see it complete before I die,” he adds.
The original Taj Mahal has made it to the top five of a prestigious new list of the world’s best tourist attractions.
