Jennifer Lawrence is now the Highest-Paid Actress in the World: The annual list of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses was released by Forbes. As expected, the latest American sweetheart and Hunger Games lead Jennifer Lawrence has earned the top spot, raking in $52 million pre-tax in the past 10 months.
Lawrence not only topped the charts, she showed sheer domination over her peers. She earned $16.5 million more than runner-up Scarlett Johansson. But she is still trailing behind the highest-paid actors in the world. For the third time in a row, Iron Man lead Robert Downey, Jr. was Hollywood’s highest earner with $80 million, despite only appearing in three films since 2014.
Unequal pay is as much of a problem in Hollywood as it is anywhere else. Both Lawrence and Charlize Theron famously made headlines earlier this year after the Sony hacks revealed they were both getting paid significantly less than their male costars.
In June, the 25-year-old actress signed on to star in sci-fi film Passengers alongside Chris Pratt. This time, sources say the Jurassic World star is reportedly set to take home a $12 million paycheck, while Lawrence will reportedly earn almost double Pratt’s salary—with a $20 million payday.
