Saina Nehwal signs Rs 25 crore deal

Hyderabad: India’s ace Badminton player Saina Nehwal on Thursday signed a deal worth Rs 25 crore for a period of two years with leading management and marketing company IOS Sports and Entertainment.

Based on Saina’s performance and her world rankings, IOS is targeting the shuttler for a deal of Rs 25 crore. The news was announced after Saina won a silver medal on Sunday at the World Championship in Jakarta. IOS, who manages Mary Kom, Vijender Singh, Suresh Raina and Sushil Kumar, will manage the endorsements, patents, licensing, brand profiling, appearances and visibility on social networking sites of the star.

Saina Nehwal said that she has been performing well in the international circuit but at the same time she was looking for a sports management group that could manage her overall brand portfolio and logistics plus commercial activities in the best professional way.

She added that she was convinced in the manner in which IOS has built M.C. Mary Kom a big brand in the industry and that was the major reason she decided to join hands with IOS. The 25-year-old Badminton icon said that she was confident that IOS will help achieve her business goals and maximise the value of her brand.

On signing the contract, Neerav Tomar, the managing director congratulated Saina for bagging silver at the world championships and regaining World No. 1 spot. He added that they are pleased to welcome another top women sportsperson of the world into the IOS family.
