The Anti Terrorism Squad of Rajasthan on Tuesday detained a suspected Islamic State (ISIS,) operator in Chennai. The accused Haroon has been accused of collecting funds and sending them to the Daesh.
According to sources, the accused was taken into custody near Burma Bazaar in Chennai during the early hours on Tuesday. This action was taken after two other previously detained accused, Mohammed Iqbal and Jamil Ahmed, revealed the information.
Haroon has been shifted to Jaipur for further investigation. He was detained from the mobile shop he owns in the Burma Bazaar area of Chennai.
According to reports, the ATS also has discovered there have been several individuals joining the Daesh in Syria from Tamil Nadu and Telangana. In 2016, according to the ATS, one from Telangana and eight from Tamil Nadu have joined the Daesh. This number has been increasing with every passing day according to the ATS.
