Terrorists attack Kupwara Army camp, casualties on both ends

At 4:00 A.M., this morning, an artillery camp at Chokibal area in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir was under attack by a terrorist group. The terrorist rained fire on the army base killing three jawans including an army officer. The attack lasted about an hour and the soldiers managed to kill two of the terrorists but suspect there were more that managed to infiltrate the army camp.

The terrorists managed to cross over the LoC as Summer weather makes the snow not as high as in Winter. The attack injured five jawans who were immediately rushed to Srinagar for medical aid but some of them are in critical condition.

Retired Major General Ashok Mehta, explained that the security personnel assigned to the artillery camp were not trained in battling against terrorists. As their primary requirement is to keep the artillery in good condition.

Rajnath Singh, the Home Minister will be holding a security review meeting to analyze the delicate situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting will also include the top Home Ministry officials as well.

Just yesterday news came in that approximately 150 militants were waiting in Pakistan occupied Kashmir near the Line of Control trying to sneak into the Country from the valley. Commander of Srinagar Lt. General J.S. Sandhu has placed 15 Corps in the Kashmir valley for security. He also revealed more militants will be placed in Pakistan occupied Kashmir facing Poonch and Rajouri in the Jammu province.
