The Maharashtra Govt Forms Committee To Study CAA-NPR-NRC

The Maharashtra Government, finally took a stand regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Act [CAA,] 2019.

Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief  Minister of Maharashtra, on the 6th of March, formed a cabinet sub committee to study all the issues of the CAA, the National Population Register (NPR) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC.)

The Shiv Sena, ruling Government of Maharashtra, constituted the committee, which would submit a detailed report suggesting what stand the Government should take regarding the CAA, NPR and NRC.

 Mr. Thackeray said, “We are asked about our stand on issues like CAA, NRC (National Register of Citizens) and NPR. We discussed the issue in the cabinet.” He further added, “A six member cabinet committee has been formed and it will study these issues and submit a report to the Government, following which we will frame our stand.” 

Anil Parab, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister and a member of the Shiv Sena would head the committee which includes Jitendra Awhad, the Housing Minister of Maharashtra, Vijay Wadettiwar, the Minister of  Relief and Rehabilitation, Sunil Kedar, the Sports Minister, Nawab Malik, the Minority Affairs Minister and Uday Samant, the Higher and Technical Education Minister.
