Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh: In a remarkable turn of events, two women from Gorakhpur tied the knot to escape years of harassment and abuse by their drunken husbands. Kavitha and Gunja, also known as Babloo, exchanged vows at a Shiva temple in Deoria on Thursday evening, marking the start of a new life together.

The two women first connected on Instagram, bonding over shared experiences of domestic violence and the struggles of enduring abusive marriages. Their friendship soon deepened, and they made the bold decision to leave their husbands and begin a life of love and peace together.

Gunja took on the role of the groom during the ceremony, applying a tilak to Kavitha’s forehead before they exchanged garlands and performed the sacred seven steps around the holy fire. “We married to live a peaceful life full of love. We plan to stay in Gorakhpur,” Gunja shared.

The temple priest, Shankarpande, who officiated the ceremony, expressed his thoughts on the unique wedding, noting the strength of their bond amidst societal challenges. This unusual union highlights the women’s determination to overcome adversity and find happiness on their terms.
