The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) denied allegations that there was another security breach of Aadhaar details. The news website ZDNet put out a report claiming there was a data leak on a system run by a state owned company.
The company was not named in the report but said it gave out sensitive information of Aadhaar card holders. The UIDAI stated there was no truth to this and legal action will be taken. The agency said, “There has been absolutely no breach of UIDAI’s Aadhaar database. Aadhaar remains safe and secure.”
The statement further added, “Even if the claim purported in the story were taken as true, it would raise security concerns on database of that utility company and has nothing to do with the security of UIDAI’s Aadhaar database.”
ZDNet said it was withholding more information regarding this apparent leak. But the news website has failed to respond to the UIDAI denying these accusations.
