UP Police Receives Threat Call Regarding Explosive Devices At Taj Mahal

The Uttar Pradesh Police received a threat call over explosives at the Taj Mahal.   

According to sources, on the 4th of March an unidentified person called 112 emergency number and said an explosive device was planted in Taj Mahal.

Shiv Ram Yadav, Superintendent of Police (SP) (Protocol) Agra, said, “We have received information from the control room that a man called them up saying that a bomb is kept at the Taj Mahal which will explode soon. The security check is being done around Taj Mahal.”

Concerned about the threat call and information of an explosion in Taj Mahal, the UP Police immediately took action. The CISF and Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the spot.

Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, is the major tourist attraction in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra. The Mughal era monument Taj Mahal is under high security with a huge police force. The police also launched a search operation for the explosive device at the iconic monument.

All the tourists, who were already at the monument, were evacuated and the doors were closed. Nearly 1,000 people were inside the monument when the police started the evacuation.

Though the police believed the call to be a hoax, they took all the necessary precautions. The police also traced the caller’s location which was identified to be in Firozabad.

Meanwhile, the Agra Police, CISF and the Bomb Disposal Squad are conducting the search operation.
