World Book Fair In New Delhi Is Back

The Annual World Book Fair in New Delhi is here and being conducted from the 6th to 14th of January. This is one event that successfully lures bibliophiles of all age groups to this good old book fair. The fair that began in 1972 is back in the city with 800 publishers that include 40 international ones.

The event is organized by the National Book Trust (NBT) in association with the India Trade Promotion Organization. This year the fair is themed around the environment and the ongoing issues of climate change, water pollution and global warming.

Ever since technology picked up, it is being speculated if e-books are gaining precedence over printed ones. But this book fair shows otherwise, Head of Sales Nandan Jha explained, “We sold over 50,000 books in the last edition. No idea about the footfall, but as per some reports, over 1.2 million people visited the fair.”

Penguin Random House stated, “Over 20,000 unique titles (totalling 70,000 units) will be on display and available for sale. We also have a larger presence in the Children’s Hall 7H for the first time.”

This time the highlight will be the children’s books at the fair. The publishers, editors and authors from 26 different European Union countries will conduct activities such as monster making and comic making workshops. The ones interested in taking part in a discussion can be at the popular Author’s Corner.

This year the event will launch some amazing books from different genres. The most awaited ones are Diabetes with Delight: A Joyful Guide to Managing Diabetes in India by Anoop Misra and the thriller book by Rickie Khosla titled Pretty Vile Girl.

The event will also see the world’s learning company Pearson featuring its best and prominent titles. The visitors will have the opportunity to look through the titles offered by Pearson covering a wide range of topics.
