Delhi Daredevils are second to last on the IPL scoreboard with just 4 points after losing 4 out of the 6 matches played. The team has another 8 games to play before the qualifier rounds but only if they pick up their pace and have a winning streak inside of a losing one.
Delhi Daredevils have a match today with Kolkata Knight Riders who are at the top of the scoreboard with 12 points after winning 6 out of 8 games played. Delhi Daredevils will face a tough time beating KKR at Eden Gardens depending on if the match happens. The weather in Kolkata is 40% chance of rainfall and an expected thunderstorm in the afternoon. If the match is a wash out both teams will receive a point each putting DD in a fix of not affording to lose a single match thereafter.
Skipper Zaheer Khan explains how the next few matches are crucial and will determine their place in this tournament, “We haven’t been able to close out some close games. Our net run rate is good and a team has a good net run rate only when it is doing well. We need a winning momentum and in the next nine days, we will play five games. I think this is a very important phase in the campaign for us and if we manage to get that winning momentum in this phase a lot of things will change by May 6,”
Pat Cummins, Chris Morris, and Kagiso Rabada have great potential as we saw in their match against Mumbai which they sadly lost by 14 runs. Captain and mentor Zaheer Khan said in a statement made his players didn’t get under the skin of the opposition team enough to get a victory, “The young potential we have is amazing and they need a little bit of confidence and that comes from winning. I have no doubt this team will deliver the goods when it matters. These five games are crucial, not just tomorrow.”
