It is common knowledge that M.S. Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh are not on great terms with each other. Though Dhoni never openly replied, Yograj made his dislike for Dhoni very clear through his blame and words. During an interview in 2015, Yograj went as far as calling Dhoni ‘Ravana.’ Also in 2015, when Yuvraj was dropped from the ICC World Cup cricket team, Yograj made scandalous comments.
In an interview with Mid-day, Yograj said that “I feel really ashamed when other cricketers come and tell me about Dhoni. Earlier, I used to think that people must be cribbing about Dhoni due to jealousy. But when the cricketers told me about him, I think I have never seen a terrible person like him ever in my life.” He also added,“Dhoni is arrogant. The way Ravana’s pride came to an end, Dhoni will also suffer some day. He considers himself much above Ravana.”
Though Yograj made his hate for Dhoni quite clear, Yuvraj has always distanced himself from such comments. He also said that these comments do not bother him and that he and Dhoni are on great terms and have no issues at all. On Wednesday, Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy of ODI’s and T20 format. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the teams on Friday for ODI and T20’s against England. While Virat Kohli has been declared as the Captain of the limited-overs team, Yuvraj Singh was called back into the national team. Yuvraj’s last T20 match was in 2013, after which he played very few international matches. Now with getting back on the team, Yuvraj gets another chance to prove himself.
Though Yuvraj maintained the formal relations, his being back on the team as soon as Dhoni quits made Twitterati go into hyperactivity. While there might be no relation between the two events, their timing is impeccable and does leave a doubt in the minds of the fans.
