Brazilian national Daniel Dias enjoyed a golden start to his Rio 2016 campaign on a night when eight swimming world records were broken in a raucous Olympic Aquatics Stadium. Dias won the S5 200 meter freestyle, for his 11th Paralympic title. Cut to China’s Huang Lisha who won her third consecutive 100 meter T53 Paralympic title after setting a new world record of 16.19 seconds in the heats. But the best till now in the competition has been Sarah Storey who became the most successful British female Paralympian of all time by winning gold in the 3000 meters individual pursuit final. Storey, who was born without a left hand, has now won 12 Paralympic gold medals – five in swimming and seven in cycling.
