On the 2nd of February, Wednesday, the Indian Cricket Team confirmed 7 members, including 4 players to be positive for the Wuhan virus, also known as COVID-19.

According to sources, Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, and Navdeep Saini along with 3 staff members reported Wuhan virus-positive.

The report came ahead of the West Indies series, starting from the 6th of February.

Notably, the players’ Wuhan virus test results came when players were under mandatory quarantine for the upcoming series.

Meanwhile, due to the situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) included Mayank Agarwal in the Indian squad for the West Indies series.

The BCCI release said, “The All India Senior Selection Committee has added Mayank Agarwal to India’s ODI squad after seven members, including three players of Team India (Senior Men) tested positive for COVID-19 following three rounds of RT-PCR.” The release further read, “The members were asked to report in Ahmedabad on 31st January 2022 for the upcoming Paytm three-match ODI and T20I series against the West Indies. Every member was also asked to undergo an RT-PCR test at home before embarking on their journey to Ahmedabad and the travel was undertaken only after testing negative.”

Meanwhile, all the Wuhan virus-positive players and members would remain under isolation, until full recovery.

The West Indies and India series are set to begin from the 6th of February to the 20th of February, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
