Telangana’s Dubbaka Assembly constituency is conducting by elections today, the 3rd of November.
Three major parties, the Indian National Congress (INC,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) are fighting to win the elections.
The by election in the small constituency is an intense battle for the parties which would change the Telangana politics.
The Dubbaka constituency has almost 1.98 lakh voters, for which 315 polling stations are organised. The polling stations were increased due to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
High security has been arranged for smooth conduct of the elections. Paramilitary forces were also deployed in the sensitive areas of Dubbaka constituency.
The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) followed protocols of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 for the safety of the voters.
Voters were asked to wear a face mask and provided with sanitizers and hand gloves at the polling centre.
The Chief Secretary of Telangana Somesh Kumar and other officials supervised the arrangements for the by poll.
The three candidates of the TRS, the BJP and the INC are by Ramalinga Reddy’s wife Solipeta Sujatha Reddy, M. Raghunandan Rao and C. Srinivas Reddy, respectively.
Interestingly, both Raghunandan and Mr. Srinivas were a part of the TRS in the past.
Voting started at 7:00 A.M., and would continue till evening 5:00 P.M.
The counting of votes would be held on the 10th of November.
