On the 18th of December, a violent incident took place in Adilabad town of Hyderabad City, where three people were injured.
According to sources, on Friday evening a leader of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) opened fire at three people. Identified as Mobammed Farooq, AIMIM Adilabad District President attacked his rivals after a tussle between two groups playing cricket in Tatiguda area
Despite using his licenced revolver to attack, the AIMIM leader used a knife also on the victims.
The incident left three people injured, who were shifted to a hospital immediately. They were admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). One of the injured was later shifted to Hyderabad.
A video of Mr. Farooq attacking three people went viral over social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
In the video, Mr. Farooq, who is also former the Vice Chairman of the Adilabad Municipality, is seen opening fire from his weapon, while holding a knife in another hand.
Syed Zameer and Syed Mouthesin received bullet injuries and Zameer’s brother Syed Mannan sustained stab injuries in the attack.
Syed Mouthesin who sustained two bullet injuries is said to be in a critical condition.
The families of Farooq and Zameer are said to be political rivals.
Mr Farooq’s wife is the councilor from Tatiguda. In the elections held last year she had defeated a relative of Zameer, who had contested on the Indian National Congress (INC) party’s ticket.
Old grudges are said to be the reason behind the violent attack.
Mohammed Farooq was arrested immediately and a case has been filed against him under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)
A district police said, “A petty quarrel taken place between boys, mean time the belongings of both group came there and a quarrel taken place All of sudden Mohd Farooq Ahmed Ex vice chairman Municipality Adilabad and AIMIM Dist President opened fire with his licensed revolver (sic.)”
The Adilabad police are conducting an investigation in the matter.
