Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi occasion, Telangana started preparing for the famous Laddu auction.
The Balapur Ganesh Laddu auction is one of the most popular traditions followed during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. The State does not only celebrate the event in a grand way, but makes the highest idol of Lord Ganesha in the Khairatabad area. Despite the ongoing Wuhan virus pandemic, the Khairatabad and Balapur Ganesh Laddu Association would celebrate the event. However, considering the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the event would be organised in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols like social distancing, wearing face masks and sanitizing.
It is to be noted, the Balapur Laddu auction has been conducted on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi for the past 27 years, except in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, the Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi decided to cancel the auction and hand over the laddu of Ganesh Chaturthi to the Telangana Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao.
The Balapur Laddu auction is a tradition followed in Telangana since the Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi started.
Every year, nearly 1.50 lakh people attend the auction which is organised in the Balapur village of Telangana.
The 21 kg laddu prepared for auction would be open for auction after the Balapur Ganesh Shobha Yatra.
The yatra usually begins amid police security in the evening when lord Ganesh would be immersed at Hussain Sagar.
