On Sunday, the SR Nagar police of Hyderabad arrested a cab driver who attempted to assault a 13 year girl at her home. Riyaz, 30, the accused was arrested for entering the girl’s home illegally on Saturday when she was alone. SR Nagar inspector Mohammed Waheed Uddin said, “Riyaz asked the girl for drinking water and when she went to the kitchen, he followed her.” The police also said that when he tried to assault her, the mother walked in, which led to Riyaz fleeing from the spot. The family of the seventh standard girl lodged a police complaint at the SR Nagar Police station on Saturday night.
Riyaz previously stayed in the same colony and was the neighbor of the victim. Based on the FIR, police registered IPC sections 354(assault or use of criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman), 354-A, 448 (House trespassing). Also, sections of 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Offences (POCSO) Act have been registered. The accused will be presented in the Hyderabad High Court on Monday.
