In the Union Budget 2022, the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) coal mines got an allocation of Rs. 974 crores.

Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India, allocated funds for tribal and Vizag petroleum universities.  The Central Government allocated Rs. 910 crore in the budget to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant), which is moving towards privatisation. 

In addition, Rs. 44 crore for tribal universities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.  The Central University of Hyderabad was given Rs. 56 crore, while the Central University of Andhra Pradesh was allotted Rs. 50 crore. 

The Atomic Minerals Directorate of Exploration and Research was allocated Rs. 374.35 crore.  While Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad was given Rs. 300 crore, the Petroleum University in Visakhapatnam was allotted Rs. 150 crores.  Lastly, the Central Government allocated Rs. 207 crore for the Vizag Port Trust. 

Besides the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and education institutions, there has been no major allocation in the 2022 Budget for the two Telugu States. 

Notably, the allocated budget did not make the leaders of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana happy.  Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), and Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, expressed disappointment and said, the budget is not promising.
