The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) began the second phase of  the ration distribution from the 1st of May in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Mareddy Srinivas Reddy, the Chairman of the Civil Supplies Corporation along with Danam Nagender, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of  Khairatabad launched the second phase of the distribution.  Both TRS leaders launched the distribution at a ration shop in Panjagutta. 

Srinivas Reddy said, 2.52 crores White Ration card holders received 3.18 lakh tons of rice in April and 3.34 tons of rice to 87.55 lakh families would be distributed in May. He said,  “The Government has set aside Rs. 1,103 for this purpose.” 

Mr. Reddy said the State Government released Rs. 1,109 crores for distributing rations and Rs. 1,500 toWhite ration card holders in the State.   Approximately 74.7 lakh card holders received cash benefits through banks and 5.22 lakh card holders through post offices in Telangana.   While the free rice distribution started from the 1st of May, money distribution for the second lockdown would begin from the 2nd of May.
