On the 27th of March, Monday, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao inaugurated a rice mill in Sircilla district.  The mill, named  Vijaylaxmi Industry, was the hard work of three Dalit Bandhu Scheme beneficiaries Sudamalla Rajeshwari, Sudamalla Vijay Kumar and Dappula Lingaiah, who formed a group and decided to launch the mill.  The journey from being a beneficiary of the Dalit Bandhu Scheme to being an entrepreneur is inspiring, for the Dalits in the Telugu State of Telangana.

During the inauguration, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao said, “Telangana Government’s schemes continue to empower people.”

This is a revolution for the Dalits of Telangana, who could use the scheme and get out of a life of being just laborers for others.  The trio of Rajeshwari, Vijay and Dappula is an example of how with the help of a government scheme, one could change their financial status and start anew as an entrepreneur.  Speaking about the process of the establishment, Rajeshwari’s husband Surender and Lingaiah both owned lorries, Vijay Kumar is a Gulf returnee.  As part of their plan, they purchased three acres of land by spending Rs. 30 lakh on the outskirts of Dumala of Yellareddypet Mandal.  Besides the Rs. 30 lakh sanctioned under Dalit Bandhu (Rs. 10 lakh each,) the three beneficiaries took a bank loan for the rice mill.

This is the first time beneficiaries are coming together to set up a rice mill since the launch of the scheme in August 2021.
