Former DCP Radhakishan Rao Receives 14-Day Judicial Remand in Phone Tapping Case

Hyderabad: In a significant development, the Nampally court has granted a 14-day judicial remand to former Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Radhakishan Rao in connection with a phone tapping case.

Rao, who previously served as the DCP of the Hyderabad Task Force and later in the Organized Crime Task Force (OST) post-retirement, was apprehended by law enforcement officials. The arrest follows allegations that Rao’s team conducted unauthorized operations at the ground level, purportedly based on information obtained through phone tapping facilitated by suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dugyala Praneet during their tenure in the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB).

During the course of the investigation, Rao underwent interrogation at the Banjara Hills police station beginning Thursday morning. Subsequently, following a medical examination at Gandhi Hospital, he was brought before the presiding judge’s residence in Kompally this evening.

The judicial remand underscores the gravity of the allegations levied against Rao and signifies a crucial phase in the legal proceedings surrounding the phone tapping scandal. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are expected to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized surveillance activities allegedly conducted under Rao’s supervision.
