On Monday, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) cracked down on six famous restaurants in Hyderabad. They imposed fines on restaurants for using unstamped meat and unhygienic conditions. The Corporation’s health and sanitation wing collected a total fine of Rs. 1.30 lakhs from these eateries.

Ravi Kiran, the Additional Commissioner of health and sanitation of GHMC, said that this raid was a result of the recent convergence meeting. He said, “We had taken a decision to conduct raids after officials from the water board told us that many eateries were letting sewer water seep into their cellars, where they store vegetables and meat.”

The eateries include Sohail Restaurant at the Nalgonda crossroads, Al Saba restaurant near the IT hub in Gachibowli, Paradise hotel of IS Sadan, Astoria restaurant of the RTC X Roads and Minerva Grand located on the SD Road in Secunderabad.

Some of the hotels have also been fined for procuring meat from illegal slaughterhouses in the city which are famous for mincing different animals meat and selling it.
