The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government is all set to announce the candidate for the next Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor.
The elections for the GHMC Mayor and Deputy Mayor post is scheduled to be held in the morning of the 11th of February.
As per sources, a woman TRS candidate would be the next Mayor of the GHMC.
If sources are to be believed, the TRS is going to announce Gadwal Vijaya Lakshmi as Mayor candidate and Srilatha Shobanreddy as Deputy Mayor candidate.
It is known that from the past a few days the names of these candidates are doing rounds on social media. However, an official announcement regarding the Mayor and Deputy Mayor candidates would be done later at 12:30 P.M., today. The two parties contesting for Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts are, the TRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
However, the chances for the TRS are high, as they have the majority of corporators in after winning the GMHC elections. The TRS won 56 seats and the BJP secured 48 divisions.
Ahead of the announcement of the GHMC Mayor and the Deputy Mayor, the oath taking ceremony of newly elected corporators would take place at 11:00 A.M. There are a total of 150 GHMC corporators.
All the TRS members, the GHMC corporators and others would attend the elections.
The term of the GHMC Council expired on the 10th of February.
